Bakery Assistants

New World Pioneer is a large-format, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. We employ a team who pride themselves on delivering exceptional customer service.

Our Bakery Department is progressive and committed to developing our people through ongoing instore training and opportunities to upskill.

We're looking for two motivated Part-Time Bakery Assistants to join our team. These are hands-on roles suited to people who enjoy working with food, have an eye for presentation and take pride in producing quality bakery products.

 

About the Role

You'll work across the bakery department, with a particular focus on packing, finishing and decorating a variety of bakery products. This is a busy, hands-on environment where quality, presentation and teamwork are important.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

• Packing and presenting bakery products to a high standard

   

   

• Finishing and decorating a variety of baked goods

   

   

• Assisting with the preparation and production of bakery products

   

   

• Maintaining product quality, freshness and presentation

   

   

• Keeping the department clean, tidy and organised

   

   

• Following food safety and workplace health and safety procedures

 

About You

The successful applicants will have:

 

• A genuine interest in baking and working with food

   

   

• Previous bakery, food preparation or hospitality experience (advantageous)

   

   

• Good attention to detail and pride in presentation

   

   

• The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

   

   

• Physical fitness and the ability to be on your feet throughout the shift

   

   

• Reliability, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn

   

   

• The ability to work well as part of a team

   

   

You don't need to be a qualified baker, but some experience with food preparation, baking or decorating would be an advantage.

 

 

Hours of Work

We have two part-time positions available:

 

Position 1 

Thursday: 10:00am – 6:00pm

 

 

Friday: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Saturday: 10:00am – 6:00pm

 

Position 2 

 

Sunday: 10:00am – 6:00pm

 

 

Monday: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Tuesday: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Wednesday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
