Barista / Checkout Assistant

At New World Te Kauwhata, we are committed to providing our customers with quality products and outstanding service. We are looking for a motivated and reliable Barista / Checkout Assistant to join our team and play an important role in delivering a great shopping experience from the store to our customers’ doors.

We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled Baristas / Checkout Assistants to join our team. This is for two full-time positions. Hours are 7am-3pm Sunday – Tuesday & 7am-3pm Wednesday-Saturday.

What we need from you:

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Experienced barista (minimum 12 months) making consistent, high-quality coffee on a commercial machine. (Full training will be provided off-site for the successful candidates).

• Taking orders and processing payments efficiently and accurately on the POS
• Maintaining cabinet presentation and stock levels throughout the day
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak service times
• Opening and close-down of the fresh area, including any cleaning required.
• Checkout Assistant role can include when needed; Customer Service enquires, Lotto, checkouts and stock filling (training will be provided for this part of the role).
• Fluent in English with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• An ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team environment. 
• Previous experience in a supermarket/café assistant role preferred.
• Have excellent cleaning, safety, and hygiene standards
