Delicatessen Assistant Manager

Thorndon New World is a premier supermarket in Wellington and a key point of difference is our Fresh Food Departments – particularly our busy Delicatessen Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for applicants who are currently in a management role within the Supermarket Industry and ready to accept new challenges or who feel they are ready to step up.
This position involves reporting to the Service Deli Manager and assisting with the day to day running of the Delicatessen Department and running the Department in their absence.
Responsibilities will include:
- Achieving and improving on set targets
- Upholding Food Safety standards
- Food Production & Presentation
- Ordering stock, managing and maintaining relationships with supplier
- Staff Supervision and ensuring the production of quality food products
- Delivering high Customer Service
- Using SAP product and order management system
You will need to be highly computer literate and able to communicate confidently with a large diverse team. We require someone with extensive Delicatessen, Food and/or Supermarket experience and staff management abilities.
We are looking for someone who is committed to maintaining our high standards, has excellent communication and customer service skills, works well managing a team environment and has practical knowledge of current Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.
The position is full-time, including one weekend shift and extra hours when required. The hours and remuneration will be discussed at an interview.
