Produce Manager


We’re excited to announce that New World Te Atatū will be opening its doors August 2026, offering a new full-service modern supermarket and creating 120 new roles for the Peninsula. 

We’re now looking for Produce Manager who is ready to build a high-performing team, shape our store culture, and set the standard for operational excellence from day one. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role where your vision, capability, and influence will directly impact the success of a brand‑new store and create an experience our customers will love from the moment we open our doors.

 

Te Tūranga – About the role

  • Have full ownership of the produce department including buying, price integrity, rostering, food safety, stock management.   
  • Ensure all produce meets the highest standards, is fresh and displayed attractively for our customers.
  • Lead, inspire and train a team.
  • Listen to customers to find out what they want and need in one simple shop.
  • Search constantly for areas to improve our produce operations, productivity, and efficiency. 
  • Deliver on financial performance targets including budgets, wage percentages and sales forecasting.

He kōrero mōu - About you

  • Proven people leadership experience at Department Manager level or above, ideally within produce or fresh foods.
  • Commitment to the customer – identifying and focusing on store standards and meeting customer expectations. 
  • Knowledge of food safety compliance and health & safety procedures. 
  • Previous experience with SAP.
  • Resilient and able to maintain steady leadership through challenges, supporting your team through change. 
  • Able to navigate ambiguity, adjust to plans as the store evolves and embrace new ways of working.
