You will work closely with the Bakery Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department.

 Play a key role in leading the bakery team, coordinating daily production, maintaining food safety and quality standards, managing stock and ensuring our customers have access to fresh, high-quality bakery products every day.

As this is a hands-on leadership position, we are looking for someone who is confident working alongside the team, can manage and enjoys working in a fast-paced supermarket environment.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for supporting the Bakery Manager with:

  • Taking responsibility for the department in her absence.
  • Planning and coordinating daily bakery production and ensure that customer demands are met.
  • Baking and preparing a variety of breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, slices and other bakery products as well as finishing products to a high presentation standard
  • Maintaining consistent product quality and freshness
  • Ensuring excellent product availability throughout the day and monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering
  • Rotating stock correctly and maintaining appropriate storage standards
  • Monitoring and reducing product wastage
  • Completing required food safety and temperature checks
  • Ensuring all food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures are followed
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance, equipment or safety issues

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about baking and has the confidence to take on a leadership role.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous commercial bakery experience
  • Experience working in a supermarket or high-volume bakery environment
  • Strong knowledge of bakery production and preparation
  • Experience producing a range of breads, rolls, pastries, cakes and other bakery products
  • Previous supervisory or team-leadership experience is preferred
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise work and meet production deadlines
  • A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive and professional attitude
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including early starts, occasional night shifts, weekends and public holidays as required
  • Knowledge on SAP would be an advantage, but full training will be given

Salary: $31 per hour, depending on experience and skills.
