Bakery Assistant Manager - NW Mt Albert

Ready to step up and help lead one of our busiest fresh departments? New World Mt Albert is looking for a Bakery Assistant Manager to support our Bakery Manager, lead the team on the floor, and help deliver the fresh baking and service our customers keep coming back for.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves baking, takes pride in a great-looking counter, and is ready to grow into leadership.

About the role

Reporting to the Bakery Manager, you'll be their right hand; helping run the day-to-day operation, leading the team during shifts, and stepping up to run the department when the Manager is away. It's a genuine pathway into department management.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the bakery team on the floor and stepping up in the Manager's absence
• Helping order and manage stock and ingredients to maximise sales and minimise waste
• Working to the established production schedule and the robust daily processes that keep the section running
• Keeping display and counter presentation sharp and the range looking its best
• Championing food safety and health & safety every shift
• Supporting the training, coaching and development of team members
• Delivering outstanding customer service and resolving issues on the spot
• Helping hit the department's sales, wage and gross profit targets

What we're looking for

• An emerging leader who's ready to take responsibility and grow
• Keen interest in baking and food innovation; you like trying new things and improving the offer
• A stickler for a consistent daily offer
• A food safety and health & safety champion
• Some supervisory or senior baking experience an advantage (industry newcomers with the right attitude welcome)
• Computer literate and confident learning our systems (SAP experience an advantage)

A completed New Zealand Certificate in Baking (Generalist) Level 4 (or international equivalent) is preferred.

Handy to have: NZQA Level 3, solid English and maths, and a clean driver's licence.
