Bakery Assistant Manager

This is a great opportunity for an experienced bakery professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our busy supermarket bakery.

Working closely with the Bakery Manager, you will assist with leading a team of 9, maximising sales and profitability, managing stock and expenses, and ensuring our customers enjoy an outstanding shopping experience.

This is a full-time 45 hours per week, permanent Tuesday to Saturday role, giving you Sunday and Monday off each week. As you would expect in a busy bakery, the roster includes early morning starts of 2am and 4am.

 

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting the Bakery Manager with the day-to-day leadership of the department and team
• Helping to ensure the department is full, fresh and appealing throughout our hours of trade
• Supporting purchasing requirements, stock management and liaison with suppliers
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and Food Safety compliance
• Maintaining 100% price integrity within the department
• Supporting the achievement of department sales, productivity and profit targets
• Undertaking the duties of a Baker as required
• Supporting, motivating and developing the team to deliver excellent customer service

What we're looking for

Essential:

• Previous bakery, food retail or FMCG experience
• A recognised bakery qualification
• Physically fit and able to meet the requirements of the role
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
• The ability to lead by example in a busy retail environment

Desirable:

• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
• Good numeracy skills
• Unit Standards 497, 167 and 168
