Bakery Assistant

At New World Te Rapa we pride ourselves on delivering high quality products for our customers whilst providing a great shopping experience. We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are looking to step into the world of baking and wish to develop their skills. This is a Part time position which entails physical work, starting early mornings from 5 am as well as weekend work.

Hours

Sunday, Monday, Friday 5am-3pm

We are looking for someone to complete the following tasks:

• Assisting in loading and unloading deliveries to avoid wastage
• Storing baking supplies, equipment, utensils and dishes in refrigerator, freezers and other storage areas
• Gathering food ingredients in preparation of baking
• Ensuring the department is kept clean, attractively presented, and compliant with legislative requirements (including pricing and labelling), while delivering excellent customer service
• Assisting where needed in the department
• Packaging, pricing, and displaying baked breads, rolls, cakes, loaves, biscuits, and delicatessen products
• Rotating stock and reducing to clear if required
• Ensuring weekly specials and promotions are displayed effectively
• Stocking bags and packaging materials, and completing stock-takes as needed
• Assisting in other store departments when required

It is essential that you are physically fit, have a good command of written and spoken English, as well as good basic math skills.
