About the Role

As Bakery Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the Bakery Department, ensuring sales and profit targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of product quality, presentation, food safety, and customer service.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with your team to ensure the department is well stocked, visually appealing, and operating efficiently at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the bakery team to achieve department goals.
• Drive sales, profitability, and gross profit targets.
• Manage department rosters and wage budgets.
• Oversee production planning, stock ordering, inventory control, and waste management.
• Ensure excellent product quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and effectively resolve customer enquiries.
• Maintain compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and company policies.
• Recruit, train, and develop team members.
• Ensure all bakery equipment and machinery are maintained and operating safely.
• Build a positive team culture focused on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will possess:

• Previous experience in a bakery, fresh food, or food retail leadership role.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to identify trends and innovate within your department.
• Sound commercial and financial understanding, including sales, GP, and wage management.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Knowledge of food safety requirements and compliance standards.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to lead from the front.
• Physical fitness and the ability to meet the demands of the role.
