As one of Palmerston North’s largest Bakeries, we strive to offer our customers excellent service, and baked goods of a very high quality. Our bakery has an excellent reputation for our scratch made cakes, biscuits, slices, pastries, and our wide range of artisan breads.
This role is a key part of the Bakery Team and ideally you will have a Bakery qualification and experience working in a Bakery. Main duties would include the day to day running of our Bakery and Bakery Team.
Essential Experience:
- Computer Literate
- Retail experience to supervisory level or previous department management experience.
- Physically fit and able to fulfil the requirements of the role.
Ideally you will:
- Have experience in a Supermarket / Commercial Bakery.
- Be capable of taking on a leadership role and assisting with the development of new employees.
- Be able to multitask and prioritise workloads.
- Have the ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
- Have a high degree of self motivation.
- Be a team player.
- Be able to comply with our Health and Safety and Food Safety standards.
- Qualified Baker
You will be accountable for:
- Enhancing the reputation of the business by promoting and encouraging ‘best practice’ levels or customer service.
- Ensuring sales and GP targets for the department are met.
- Maintaining 100% price integrity in the department.
- Controlling ordering for the department through effective use of the instore purchasing systems.
- Controlling department costs.
- Undertaking the assigned tasks of a Baker as required.
- Achieving cost goals through monitoring department systems in an effective and timely manner.
- Ensuring all staff management practices within the department comply with store policies on employment, health and safety etc.
- Supporting the development of the store’s culture by working with the rest of the management team.
- Providing clear and consistent direction to the Bakery Team.
- Setting and upholding standards of products, service and behaviour.
- Acting with confidence, authority, integrity and empathy.
- Actively building team spirit.
- Clearly communicating the goals and objectives of the business.
- Working in a systematic way, putting systems and processes in place to ensure compliance and consistent levels of service despite changes in staff or suppliers.
- Having effective time management.
- Actively setting, monitoring and maintaining consistently high standards of customer service.
The position is full time, 40 - 45 hours a week. Hours and days are to be negotiated with the successful applicant – there is a requirement to work one weekend day.
