About the Role

As the Bakery Manager, you will provide strong leadership and direction to the bakery team, ensuring every decision is customer-focused. You will be fully responsible for exceeding sales and gross profit targets, actively managing wage costs, and maintaining price integrity. Your role includes monitoring sales trends, identifying growth opportunities, implementing improvement strategies and supporting the team with Baking when required. You will champion food safety and health & safety compliance, oversee machinery maintenance, and manage department ordering, rostering, and stock. You will also support recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff development, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee day-to-day bakery operations.
• Drive departmental performance to exceed sales, gross profit, and wage targets.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members.
• Create effective rosters to meet operational requirements and wage targets.
• Ensure all bakery products meet quality, presentation, and food safety standards.
• Manage ordering, stock control, rotation, and stocktakes to maximise availability and minimise waste.
• Maintain attractive displays and drive sales growth through new product opportunities.
• Ensure 100% price integrity across the department.
• Manage customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Food Control Plan requirements.
• Oversee maintenance and safe operation of bakery equipment and machinery.
• Foster a clean, organised, and efficient working environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• At least 3 years’ experience in a bakery leadership role within a supermarket or similar environment.
• Preferably a qualified Baker.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop others.
• Strong knowledge of bakery operations, food safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and a positive, customer-focused attitude.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs and identify sales opportunities.
• SAP and computer system experience (preferred but not essential).
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required.

What We Offer

This is a full-time position: Sunday to Thursday, 42.5 hours per week.

Salary range: $80,000-$95,000 per annum, depending on experience.
