We have an opening both for a senior butcher & a Butchery Manager.
About the Roles:
This isn’t your average butchery job. As Butchery Manager, you’ll be responsible for the full operation of the department – from the quality of every cut to the growth of every team member. You’ll lead a skilled team and play a key part in delivering value to our customers, every single day.
As the senior butcher, you will assist the butchery manager in providing high quality cuts, play a part in developing and growing our aspiring junior team members and represent your department with the top level of customer service- always going the extra mile with our customers whether it be providing expert advice or assisting getting the right cut for each one.
Your day-to-day as manager will include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of butchers and assistants to deliver top-tier service and product quality
- Managing department operations, including ordering, range, merchandising, and stock control
- Achieving department sales, gross profit, and wage targets
- Maintaining 100% pricing accuracy and implementing Foodstuffs promotional activity
- Driving innovation in range, display, and layout to maximise appeal and sales
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues with professionalism
- Contributing to store-wide initiatives and collaborating with other department head
- Acting as the key link between the department, the store leadership team, and suppliers
- Upholding strict food safety, compliance
Your day-to-day as senior butcher will include:
- A commitment to high standards of presentation, food safety, and customer service
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
- A positive, reliable, and proactive attitude
- Proven experience in a butchery role (senior or management level)
- Preparing a variety of meats for display and sale – deboning, trimming, cutting, mincing, and grinding while reducing waste, also packing and labeling the product.
- Producing small goods with selected and prepared cuts of meat
- Operating machinery for mincing, mixing, and tenderising
- Keeping display cases and freezers stocked, clean, and merchandised to standard
- Assisting customers, offering advice on meat cuts and their uses
- Stepping in as department leader in the absence of the butchery manager or 2IC.

For Butcher: you're committed, knowledgeable & passionate about your role and people.
To thrive in these roles, you’ll need:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior or management-level butchery role
- Deep understanding of meat cuts, processing, compliance, and quality standards
- Proven leadership and people development skills
- Strong planning, organisational, and time management abilities
- A good grasp of inventory systems, stock control, and gross profit drivers
- Great communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
- A calm and positive approach in a fast-moving environment
- Trade qualification in Butchery, Food Safety Certification, or SAP experience
