Butcher

We have an excellent opportunity for a passionate Butcher to join our Butchery Team!

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. We are offering competitive rates reflective of qualifications and current skill level. New World Matamata is located in a central location of the Upper North Island – with only a short 45 minutes to Mt Maunganui, Rotorua and Hamilton.

Reporting to the Butchery Manager, your role will contribute to the day-to-day running of the butchery department. You will be responsible for ensuring a wide range of meat products are available to our customers every day!

Responsibilities include:

• Cutting, trimming and preparing a range of beef, sheep, pork, chicken, small goods and other specialty meats
• Ensure all stock meets our standards of presentation, is attractively presented, and correctly labelled; recipes are followed, dates are checked, and rotated accordingly
• Ensure the meat cabinets and freezers are appropriately stocked and maintained
• Lead and provide direction to the Apprentice Butchers
• Excellent customer service and professional handling of customer enquiries
• Maintain high standards of Food & Workplace Safety

• Qualified Butcher
• Food retail experience preferred 
• Passion for providing friendly, helpful and exceptional customer service
• High attention to detail and pride in what you do
• Excellent communication
• Reliable, honest and be a good team player
• Be able to work as part of a team but also demonstrate initiative and confidence to work unsupervised
• Physically fit and able to fulfil the requirements of the role
