We are looking for one butcher in Masterton. This is a permanent and full-time position.  You must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. 

We are looking for a motivated and skilled butcher with at least two years of consistent, relevant work experience or a relevant qualification (or close to completion). The successful applicant will be able to work independently, maintain high standards of quality and food safety, and who is committed to building a long-term career as a butcher.

As a butcher you will be responsible for the following tasks, which are set out in the job description below:

• Selecting high-quality meat products
• Preparing and presenting high-quality meat products.
• Preparing, slicing, mincing, grinding, marinating, seasoning a full range of meat products.
• Breaking down and processing carcasses and primal cuts.
• Trimming, boning, slicing, and portioning meat to specification.
• Maintaining attractive and well-stocked display cabinets.
• Assisting customers with product selection and providing expert advice.
• Ensuring food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times.
• In charge of stock control, ordering, and waste minimisation.
• Participating in the wider team in daily butchery and store operations.

You Will Have

• 24 months of at least proven and consistent and relevant experience or relevant qualification (or close to completion).
• Strong knife handling and meat preparation skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic and good team work skills
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• A good level of fitness and ability to stand for long periods
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Proven ability to work independently
• Must be able to work weekends and public holidays.
