New World Pukekohe is looking for an experienced Butchery 2IC to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced butcher who enjoys leading a team, maintaining high standards, and delivering an outstanding product to our customers.

About the role

Working alongside the Butchery Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operation of our busy butchery department. You will play an important role in leading and motivating the Butchery team to deliver high-quality meat cuts and displays, outstanding customer service and maintaining food and health and safety standards.

 

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Butchery Manager with the daily running of the department
• Leading, motivating, and supporting the butchery team
• Maintaining consistently high standards of product quality, freshness, and presentation
• Ensuring excellent food safety, health and safety, and hygiene standards
• Assisting with stock management, ordering, production, and minimising waste
• Ensuring the department is well presented and fully stocked
• Helping achieve department KPIs

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Has solid experience working in a retail or production butchery environment
• Has strong knife skills and a sound knowledge of meat preparation
• Has previous leadership or supervisory experience
• Brings a positive and initiative attitude
• Is a clear and articulate communicator 
• Acts with high integrity
• Is computer literate - SAP knowledge preferred 
• Is reliable, energetic, and customer focused
• Has a proactive mindset with strong personal accountability
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Leads by example and enjoys working as part of a team
• Knowledge of food handling best practices and compliance requirements 
• Full flexibility to work a roster that includes weekends and public holidays 

 

This is a Tuesday to Saturday role. Hours to be discussed at interview.
