Butchery Assistant Manager (2IC)


We have an exciting opportunity for a Butchery Assistant Manager to help lead our Butchery team here at New World Mt Roskill. This role requires someone with a good eye for detail, freshness and quality to deliver an excellent Butchery offer to our customers everyday.

We are looking for a leader who is a passionate about fresh food with ambition and drive. We pride ourselves on having a well presented offer as well as in store made valued added products. You will be responsible for providing appealing butchery department on a daily basis to meet the demands of our customers. This will be done using safe food practices while maintaining financial performance targets for the department. This is a great opportunity to show your food retail skills, gain product knowledge and have the chance to work hands on with a team who are passionate about giving customers a great experience and growing Fresh in store. 

You will have experience in a supermarket environment or a similar role. You will have strong people skills, be well organized, have some knowledge and financial understanding of a butchery department and an eye for detail.

We are looking for someone who will support the Department Manager in the daily operations of the department and in managing these aspects of Butchery:

  • Department rosters
  • Ordering of key products
  • Tastings and samples
  • Training team members
  • Stock takes
  • Product range and innovation/ innovating/ made in store
  • Food Safety and Health and Safety compliance
Key Job Requirements
  • Passionate about good food
  • Customer and retail focused
  • Keen to learn
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to work under pressure
  • FMCG, fresh food or food retail experience.
  • Trade Qualification.
  • Has experience with Food Control Plans & Health and Safety in a work environment.
  • Good knowledge of butchery cuts
  • Experience supervising a team
  • Have knowledge of SAP, computer literate
  • Good understanding of both written and spoken English & Math.
The roster will be Tuesday to Saturday 40 hours per week. Start time will be between 5am and 6am depending on department requirements.
