Butchery Assistant

"Are you reliable and hardworking? We at New World Waihi have an exciting career opportunity for a Butchery Assistant to join our wonderful Butchery Department, with great opportunities to learn and grow within the team.

Employment Type: Permanent Full– time

Workdays: Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

Shift Time: 05:30 am – 02:00 pm

 In this role your primary responsibility is to accurately package and prepare meat products to meet our quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and presenting meat displays to a high standard.
• Assisting customers with friendly, knowledgeable service.
• Wrapping, weighing, and labelling products.
• Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards in the work area.
• Following all Food Safety and Health & Safety procedures.
• Supporting the butchers with basic preparation tasks.
• Replenishing stock and ensuring the shop is well presented.

You’ll be working in a temperature‑controlled environment, so comfort with chilled or freezer conditions is essential. The role also involves repetitive hand movements and some heavy lifting.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 20 kg.
• Previous retail or food handling experience is an advantage.
• Able to work weekends and flexible hours as required.
