Checkout 2IC

New World Ōpōtiki is a thriving and customer-focused supermarket dedicated to providing high-quality products and exceptional service to our small community.

We are seeking a full-time outstanding and experienced Checkout 2IC (Second-in-Command) to join our diverse team. As the 2IC, you will play a pivotal role in assisting the Checkout team leader in the day-to-day operations of our Checkout department. You'll contribute to delivering a positive shopping experience for our customers while ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the Checkout team leader and Duty managers to oversee the checkout department's operations, including lotto management, staff supervision, and driving customer service.
• Provide leadership, support, and specialist knowledge to the checkout team, fostering a culture of excellent customer service and teamwork.
• Lead on-job training and development of checkout department staff as needed.
• Handle customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and friendly manner.
• Housekeeping will be a big part of this role; our revamped department needs to be kept in a clean and hygienic state at all times.
• Assist with administrative tasks and reporting related to the checkout department.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a managerial role.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• A friendly positive outlook
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the best customer service standards.
• Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced and customer-oriented environment.
• Good computer skills.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
