Checkout Manager

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a people-focused, fast-paced environment and is ready to make a genuine difference to the experience our customers have the moment they walk through our doors.

In a small, close‑knit town like ours, our Checkout Manager plays an important role in supporting our community every day and we are looking for someone who is keen to lead the team in this environment.

What the role involves:

  • Leading our checkout to deliver warm, friendly, efficient service
  • Ensuring the front end runs smoothly — managing rosters, breaks, queries, refunds, and daily flow
  • Growing your team through regular coaching, training, and clear expectations
  • Working closely with grocery and service departments to keep the store running seamlessly
  • Championing our Customer Promises and helping us continuously lift service standards

What we’re looking for:

You’ll be someone who:

  • Brings a calm, professional leadership style to a busy front-end environment
  • Values strong team culture and sets the tone for others to follow
  • Has excellent attention to detail, especially with rostering and compliance
  • Communicates clearly, follows through, and keeps the team on track
  • Can plan ahead while staying adaptable when the day gets challenging

Days of work are Monday to Wednesday (6.30am – 4pm) and Thursday to Friday (6.30am – 3.30pm)

This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Owner Operator. Retail leadership experience is an advantage, but not essential.

At New World Pahiatua, we’re proud to serve our community — and we’re looking for someone who shares that passion. If you’re ready to lead a team that knows customers by name and makes a real impact every day, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The role will close once we find the right person for our store and community.
