CHECKOUT MANAGER
PAK’nSAVE Te Awamutu provides our customers with great quality food at the cheapest price, delivered quickly and conveniently. We’re proud of our town and our community.
We’re looking for an experienced and driven Checkout Manager to lead our checkout team. This is a key leadership role responsible for the day-to-day running of the department — keeping customers happy and served quickly, and keeping the team inspired to bring their best every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver immaculate daily operations in a fast-paced FMCG environment — predict, plan, and execute to a high standard.
- Provide leadership, training, coaching, and honest communication to the checkout team, building a positive culture and quick, attentive customer service.
- Build depth across the team so everyone knows what to do and how to succeed.
- Manage rosters, staffing levels, and productivity to meet operational requirements and wage budgets.
- Oversee cash handling procedures, checkout compliance, and end-of-day balancing.
- Handle customer enquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and proactively.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, presentation, and cleanliness throughout the checkout area.
- Ensure Health & Safety, food safety, liquor licence, Fair Trading Act requirements, and company policy are met at all times.
- Complete departmental administration and reporting, and
support wider store operations as required.

- Friendly, professional, and customer-focused, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Calm and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good computer literacy and administrative skills.
- Flexible to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends — base roster is Sunday to Thursday.

Days & Hours
This is a full-time position with a Sunday–Thursday base roster. Specific days and hours will be confirmed at interview. Weekend and late-night work is required as part of the wider roster.
