Checkout Operator

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Checkout Operators are tasked with providing our customers with a positive shopping experience.  They utilize their excellent customer service skills while processing orders at the checkout in a friendly and efficient manner.   

We are a large supermarket that sees 30,000 people every week through the checkouts! This is a busy role where you will encounter people from all walks of life.

Responsibilities include:

• Processing customer orders quickly and efficiently through the checkout with a friendly, personable manner. 
• Assist customers as and when required with any queries they may have.
• Ensure speedy resolution of price enquiry and other queries.  Ensuring appropriate escalation of price scanning to correct any errors in a timely manner.
• Ensure the checkout area is kept clean and tidy.
• Helping to cover breaks and being flexible to cover leave in our Coffee Cart.

We will have multiple roles available, please highlight which role you are applying for in your cover letter:

Role 1: 24 hours

Wednesday: 3pm - 8:30pm

Thursday: 4pm - 9pm

Friday: 2pm - 9pm

Saturday: 9:30am - 6pm 

Role 2: 32 hours 

Monday: 9:30am - 6pm

Tuesday: 9:30am - 6pm

Wednesday: 7am - 3:30pm

Saturday: 10am - 6:30pm

Role 3: 37 hours

Monday: 7:30am - 4pm

Tuesday: 8:30am - 5pm

Wednesday: 8am - 4pm

Thursday: 8am - 2pm

Sunday: 8am - 4:30pm

ABOUT YOU

We invite applicants that are highly motivated, friendly and outgoing with a great team attitude. You will display excellent communication skills, high presentation standards, honesty and an excellent work ethic and ideally have some retail experience.  Applicants must be able to commit to working at least one day of the weekend every week. 

The role can be physically demanding, lifting heavy items and standing for long periods.

You must have:

• The ability to multi task and stay focused
• The ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• A customer focused approach 
• Rights to work in New Zealand  
• Barista experience, or willingness to learn!
