Chilled Assistant

At Gilmours Manukau, we are dedicated to providing our wholesale members with top-tier food and beverage solutions. Freshness, quality, and outstanding service are at the heart of what we do. We are currently looking for a reliable, energetic, and detail-oriented Chilled Assistant to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis.

• Location: Manukau
• Hours: Friday 9am - 6pm and Saturday 8am - 5pm

Your main mission will be to ensure our wholesale members always have access to the highest quality chilled products. You will keep our chilled department looking sharp, fresh, and fully stocked while delivering excellent service to our commercial clients.

• Stock Management & Merchandising: Unload bulk deliveries, manage bulk inventory safely, and rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles. You’ll keep our floor bins, displays, and cool rooms looking full.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct regular stock culls to remove damaged or aging items. You will also monitor/record cool room temperatures to comply with Food Control Plans (FCP) and ensure all products are correctly labelled with prices and country of origin.
• Customer Service: Help our wholesale members with product enquiries, process orders efficiently, and offer advice on seasonal availability and product yield.
• Health & Safety: Maintain a clean, trip-free workspace, safely operate equipment like trolleys and pallet jacks, and use safe lifting techniques.

What We Are Looking For

• The Physical Capability: You must be physically fit, comfortable working in refrigerated environments, and able to safely lift heavy crates (often up to 20kg).
• Customer Focus: Previous retail or customer service experience is highly desirable. You should be friendly, approachable, and eager to help.
• Product Knowledge: A basic understanding of chilled products is preferred.
• Reliability: A strong work ethic, great attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety standards.
