Dry Goods Manager

We are looking for a Dry Goods Manager to join our awesome team at New World Waihi.
Location - New World Waihi
Job type – Full time
Duration - Permanent
Minimum guaranteed hours - 40 hours per week
Salary - $35 - $40/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise and manage Dry Goods Departments in order to ensure the maintenance of sales and targets.
- Hold weekly meetings with Dry Departments.
- Ensure in all Dry Goods Departments that all stock is sourced through approved suppliers, all orders are placed on time, and all products arechecked on arrival for quality. Ensure also that appropriate stock control / stock taking processes and procedures are in place. Maintain stock levels at an optimum level whilst avoiding over stock situations to maximize sales.
- Ensure sales and GP targets for the departments are met or exceeded and that wage costs are controlled appropriately through effective management. Monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year. Ensure 100% price integrity is maintained in the department.
- Put in place processes and procedures to ensure all department costs are controlled appropriately. Ensure credits are managed in a timely and tidy fashion to minimize waste and reduce loss and that suppliers are held accountable for damaged stock.
- Effectively resolve all customer related enquiries and complaints. Minimise customer complaints received.
- Rostering in appropriate departments to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times and that the department keeps in line with wage percentage targets.
- Ensure through effective management that all team members receive an appropriate induction / orientation to the department and receive appropriate ongoing training support. Train the team members as required.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and food control procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Management Development skills.
- Computer literate. SAP and Inventory experience an advantage.
- At least 1 year Department Management experience in a supermarket environment.
- Physically fit and able to fulfil the requirements of the role.
- Ability to work on weekends if required.
- Customer-centric and passionate about delivering exceptional levels of customer service.
