Duty Manager - NW Mt Albert (Part Time)
Are you a confident, all-round leader who can take charge of the whole store? New World Mt Albert is looking for a Duty Manager to lead our team across fresh, dry goods and customer service, keep the store running smoothly, and deliver a great experience for every customer.
This is a hands-on, senior role for someone who can turn their hand to anything, backs their decisions with data, and stays calm and in control when the store is at its busiest.
About the role
Reporting to the Owner/Operator, you'll be in charge of the store on duty; leading the team across fresh, dry goods and customer service, making the call on the floor, and keeping standards, service and safety high. You'll be the go-to person for the team and customers alike, and a key part of our senior leadership group.
Roster
Friday 8am - 4.30pm
Saturday 12.45pm - 9.15pm
What you'll be doing
● Taking charge of the store on duty, leading the team across fresh, dry goods and customer service
● Keeping the store well presented, well stocked and running smoothly through the day
● Supporting departments to hit their sales, wage and gross profit targets
● Overseeing the front end, keeping queues moving and cash handling accurate
● Handling customer escalations and complaints, and resolving them the right way
● Owning health & safety across the store on your shift, including incident response
● Supervising the responsible sale of alcohol in line with our licence
● Opening and closing the store and managing the cash office
What we're looking for
● Essential: you hold a current Manager's Certificate, or at a minimum have completed your LCQ (Licence Controller Qualification)
● A confident, all-round leader who can take charge and bring a team with them
● Comfortable working across departments, from fresh and dry goods to the front end
● A commercial mindset; you use data to make decisions and drive performance
● A stickler for standards, presentation and doing things right
● A health & safety champion who stays calm under pressure
● Solid supermarket or retail management experience (across more than one area an advantage)
● Computer literate and confident learning our systems (SAP experience an advantage)
Handy to have: NZQA Level 3, Unit Standard 497, a current First Aid certificate, solid English and maths, and a clean driver's licence.
