Duty Manager


 

Full-Time Duty Manager – New World Whangaparaoa

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and reliable individual to join our team as a full-time Duty Manager. In the absence of the Store Manager, you will take responsibility for delivering a consistently fresh, safe, and enjoyable shopping experience for our customers while ensuring smooth daily store operations.

This role requires strong leadership, initiative, and flexibility to work across all departments. You will oversee store presentation, security, productivity, and closing procedures, and be confident managing the store independently when required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and confidently resolve customer queries
  • Complete end-of-day procedures in line with departmental requirements
  • Ensure the full range of grocery products is available and well-presented
  • Maintain store security and ensure the premises are securely closed each day
  • Promote and maintain a safe workplace, ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies
  • Build positive working relationships with Department Managers and team members
  • Monitor staff performance to maintain service and productivity standards
  • Manage product recalls as required
  • Operate a forklift to move stock and pallets safely
  • Assist with shelf filling and general store duties as needed

     

About You

  • Previous supermarket experience is essential
  • Minimum one year of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Current Duty Manager’s Certificate
  • Valid forklift licence with safe operating experience
  • Tertiary qualification in business (advantageous)
  • Experience using SAP for basic processing (preferred)
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Physically fit and comfortable handling stock and working across departments
  • Available to work late nights and weekends

     

Hours & Remuneration

Hours of work and pay rate will be discussed during the interview process.
