Evening floor manager

New World Pioneer is a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards across every area of our store. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Evening Floor Manager to join our leadership team.

About the Role

Working Tuesday to Saturday, 1:30pm – 10:00pm, you will play a key role in leading the store through the afternoon and evening trade.

While based within the Grocery team, this position has a strong store-wide focus. You'll work closely with department managers and teams across the store to ensure departments are well presented, adequately stocked, operating efficiently, and delivering excellent customer service.

This is a hands-on leadership role where no two shifts are the same. You'll support team members across multiple departments, help maintain presentation and merchandising standards, monitor productivity, assist with store procedures, and step in to resolve operational issues as they arise.

The role suits someone who enjoys being out on the shop floor, can confidently make decisions, build strong working relationships, and lead by example in a fast-paced retail environment.

 

About You

The successful applicant will have:

 

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a supermarket, retail, or FMCG environment
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• The ability to motivate and support a diverse team
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Confidence working in a fast-paced environment
• A Duty Manager Certificate, or the ability and willingness to obtain one
• A forklift licence (preferred)
• Experience using SAP or similar retail systems (advantageous)
