Experienced and Passionate Head Buyer
Gilmour's North Shore is a locally owned and operated food and beverage wholesaler working with the hospitality and related industries on Auckland’s North Shore. The Role: -
Gilmour's North Shore is seeking a passionate and dedicated Head Buyer to take the lead and ownership of the Inventory and Buyers. Reporting to the Owner/Operator, the successful applicant will have overall responsibility for the execution of the buying department.
Responsibilities also include: -
- Complete Range Planning in line with business opportunities on an ongoing basis.
- Manage the Buying Program - All stock sourced through approved suppliers; all orders placed on time and all products checked on arrival for quality. Ensure appropriate stock control / stock taking processes and procedures are in place to minimize scrapping and adjustments in line with set target. Liaise with suppliers as appropriate. Maintain stock levels at optimum whilst avoiding over stock situations to maximize sales.
- Ordering of product, collecting credit notes, loading deals.
- Compliance with core range
- Communicating / dealing with sales reps / merchandisers.
- Managing Supplier Engagement and Supplier DIFOT.
- Booking and planning promotions and promotional displays.
- Manage and report delivery discrepancies.
- Manage stock range – new lines and deletions / Manage Stock Turns
- Meet agreed margin levels / percentages.
- Plan new line space allocation. Undertake space management e.g., relays / refits.
- Complete Range Reviews.
- Managing Hygiene Bin Management.
- Undertake necessary administrative functions of the role
- Complete paperwork audit – ensure all paperwork is up to date.
- Initiate process to ensure new products are entered into the system appropriately.
- Process all outstanding credits.
- Load replenishment settings of new products and update replenishment settings for existing products
- Load deals into the system
- Initiate process to ensure price accuracy weekly, monthly (as required) and inform price integrity of any last minute/ out of the norm pricing changes.
- Follow up unresolved credit issues.
- Managing Monthly Op’s report covering Blocked Stock Value, No. of Negative stock articles, No. of zero MAP articles with stock on hand, SOH (value) with no sales in the last 13 weeks, SOH (value) with no sales in the last 13 weeks % of total SOH, produce pallets and crates, No. of listed not located articles, parked invoice weekly average as a % of weekly sales and ready to de-range
- Ensure sales and GP targets are met / exceeded. Monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year.
- Control all Costs. Manage credits in a timely and tidy fashion to minimize waste and reduce loss. Manage claims for damaged stock with suppliers and the credit note process.
- Handle Customer enquiries / complaints appropriately and always ensure effective interactions with customers. Ensure customer complaints are fed back to the supplier as appropriate and necessary reimbursement (if applicable) is received.
About You:
Product and or buying experience is an absolute necessity. Ideally from a Grocery background, a passion for the product and the foodservice industry is highly desired. The following attributes are key requirements to be successful in the role:
- Strong communication (verbal and written), relationship management, negotiation, and networking skills.
- Strong analytical skills and strategy development, computer literate.
- Ambitious, motivating, results orientated supervisor.
- Leading from the front by demonstrating and living the Gilmour's values. With the ability to listen, advise and come up with commercially, customer driven, solutions.
- Previous management of staff would be ideal but just as important is someone that wants to develop their leadership ability.
- SAP systems experience
- Strong relationship builder, team player and problem solver.
- Have a valid work permit or NZ Citizen.
- Meticulous with detail and systems, constantly seeking efficiencies within buying and merchandising processes.
- Good physical fitness.
- A health and safety mindset.
