Experienced grocery assistant


New World pioneer is a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. We employ a team who pride themselves on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards across the store.

We are looking for an experienced Grocery Assistant to join our Grocery team in a full-time daytime role.
This position suits someone who already has supermarket or grocery experience, works with urgency, takes pride in presentation, and is confident supporting others to get the job done.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone ready to take the next step, lead by example, and play an important role in the day-to-day success of the department.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the day-to-day operation of the Grocery department
  • Efficient handling, replenishment, and merchandising of stock
  • Maintaining high presentation standards throughout the store
  • Assisting with stock rotation, replenishment, and quality control
  • Helping keep the stockroom and back-of-house areas organised and tidy
  • Supporting and guiding team members to achieve daily goals
  • Providing excellent customer service at all times
  • Assisting the Grocery leadership team when required
  • Following food safety and health & safety procedures

 

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a supermarket or grocery environment
  • Ability to work at pace in a high-volume department
  • Physically fit and comfortable handling stock, including chilled and frozen products
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Confident communicator who works well in a team
  • Someone reliable, consistent, and takes pride in their work
  • Willingness to step up and support others when needed
  • Availability to work Sunday to Thursday

 

Hours of work

Sunday to Thursday

8:30am – 5:00pm
