About the opportunity

We have a great opportunity for a Food Safety / Health & Safety Compliance Manager to join our Retail Operations team at Palmerston North PAK’nSAVE on a full‑time basis.

This is a hands‑on, influential role with real visibility across the business. You’ll work closely with leaders and teams to ensure food safety and health & safety standards are embedded into everyday operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote and support a strong Food Safety and Health & Safety culture across the business
• Advise and assist departments with all aspects of the Food Control Plan, ensuring compliance with the Food Act and relevant legislation
• Maintain and monitor food safety risk management systems
• Act as a subject matter expert for the team and support suppliers to meet regulatory requirements
• Coach, guide, and support teams to consistently meet compliance standards
• Work closely with leadership to identify risks, drive improvements, and follow through on actions

Skills & Experience:

• Background in food safety, health & safety, compliance, quality systems, or a regulated environment an advantage
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate systems and documentation
• A coaching mindset, with confidence to influence and support teams
• Strong follow‑through and ownership of tasks from start to finish
• Well organised, reliable, and comfortable working independently and collaboratively

You don’t need to know everything on day one. This is a skilled role, but success is driven by attention to detail, a coaching approach, and consistent follow‑through. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for a capable professional looking to apply their skills in a new environment.
