Fresh Food Supervisor - Full Time
It may seem unusual to be advertising for a Leader for 3 often-separate Departments in a Supermarket - at PAK'nSAVE Hastings, our Bakery, Deli and Seafood offerings are produced and operated within the same Department, aligning all of our production-based tasks and products into one compact team and environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for advancement and growth in a leadership role in Supermarkets or retail in general. Reporting to the Store Manager, as sole Supervisor of the Bakery/Deli/Seafood area of the Store and team, you will lead and take charge of the day-to-day running of your department.
This role is focused on supporting the day-to-day running of the department on the floor, coordinating people and production during shifts, and being a go-to support for the team. With strong and active Senior Leadership already in place to provide daily, hands-on support, this position is not a full management role, but rather a practical, operational supervisor role.
About the role:
You will work alongside senior management and Duty Managers to:
- Coordinate daily staffing, breaks, and workflow on shift
- Support production to ensure shelves and cabinets are full and looking great
- Provide on-the-job guidance and support to team members
- Help keep the department running smoothly during trading hours
- Raise issues, trends, or concerns to senior leadership when needed
Days & Hours: Sunday to Thursday. Mix of early mornings and mid-day shifts 40 hours per week
Key responsibilities:
- Supervising team members during shifts
- Coordinating daily production and stock movement
- Checking presentation, availability, and quality throughout the day
- Supporting merchandising and display standards
- Monitoring waste, shrinkage, and quality issues and reporting these
- Ensuring food safety and health & safety procedures are followed
The ideal applicant will have at least 2-3 years of relevant professional and supervisory experience working preferably within the Food space - however, experience with food or within the FMCG industry is not a must! Critical to your success in this role will be passion for developing your team and work in cross-utilisation and the ability to run and have a fast paced environment excel and thrive. It is not an expectation that you should have any Baking experience.
