Fresh Foods Manager
We are looking for a hands-on and driven Fresh Food Manager to lead our busy fresh departments - Bakery, Seafood, Deli & Cafe)
You will oversee the daily operations of the department teams, ensuring our shelves & cabinets are stocked with the freshest, highest-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Train and cultivate a dedicated team of department managers, assistants and supervisors.
- Quality & Inventory Control: Oversee stock rotation, minimize wastage, and maintain strict inventory accuracy and margin control.
- Health & Food Safety: Ensure compliance with New Zealand Food Safety standards, Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) regulations, and workplace health and safety protocols.
- Customer Service: Set the standard on the floor, handling customer inquiries and ensuring an engaging, vibrant shopping environment.
- Financial Performance: Drive departmental sales targets, manage gross profit margins, and execute promotional merchandising plans.
- Innovate: Get creative, adding exciting new products to our range.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in a fresh food, or FMCG retail management role.
- Sound knowledge of food safety regulations and strict health and safety standards.
- Strong commercial acumen—the ability to calculate margins, manage shrinkage, and analyse sales data.
- A natural leader who knows how to motivate staff during fast-paced, peak retail periods.
- Tech-savvy with experience using SAP, Storeline & Safefood Pro
