Full Time Service deli assistant

New World Pioneer is a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. We employ a team of 200+ who pride themselves on delivering exceptional customer service.

We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Service Deli Assistant.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys food preparation and cooking and is looking for a hands-on role within a supportive team environment.

Full-Time Service Deli Assistant hours

Sunday- 6.00am – 2.30pm

Monday- 6.00am – 2.30pm

Tuesday- 8.00am – 4.30pm

Wednesday- 8.00am – 4.30pm

About the role

As a Service Deli Assistant, you will

• Assist with the preparation and cooking of deli foods, including cabinet and hot food items
• Prepare, present, and maintain deli products to the highest standards
• Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are always met
• Safely handle stock, including lifting items of up to 10kg
• Work as part of a supportive team in a fast-paced environment

What we’re looking for

• A positive, reliable, and motivated attitude
• Ability to follow food safety procedures and company policies
• Willingness to learn and assist with cooking and food preparation
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Previous deli, hospitality, or cooking/food-handling experience is an advantage, but not essential – full training will be provided
