Fulltime Produce Manager - PAKnSAVE Clendon
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Produce Manager to lead and run our produce department. This is a hands-on role responsible for managing the full department, leading the team to success, achieving financial metrics and delivering fresh, great-quality produce, at the best possible value for our customers. You’ll take full ownership of the department — from buying, ordering and merchandising to leading your team and hitting targets — making sure the shop floor is full, fresh, and ready for trade every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate the produce team to achieve department targets
- Own the department end-to-end including buying, pricing, rostering, and stock management
- Ensure shelves are consistently full, fresh, and presented to a high standard
- Manage ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste and maximise availability
- Monitor stock levels, control shrinkage, and maintain inventory accuracy
- Check all incoming stock meets quality and food safety standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety and health & safety requirements
- Allocate tasks and oversee workflow to keep the department running efficiently
- Train, coach, and support team members to deliver strong performance
- Deliver on financial targets including sales, GP, and wage control
- Continuously look for ways to improve productivity, efficiency, and customer experience
- Listen to customers and respond to what they want in a simple, easy shop
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous supermarket or retail experience in produce or fresh foods (3+ years preferred)
- Proven leadership experience at Department Manager level or similar
- Strong understanding of produce quality, freshness, and merchandising standards
- Strong understanding of financial metrics - GP, Wages, Sales at minimum (proven past results/experience if available)
- Knowledge of food safety and health & safety requirements
- Experience with stock control systems (SAP experience advantageous)
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to lead from the front in a fast-paced retail environment
- Good communication skills and ability to build a strong team culture
- Physically capable of lifting and working on your feet for long periods
- Forklift or pallet jack experience advantageous
- Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage change
PAY RANGE: $80,000 p/a ~ $140,000 p/a (depending on experience)
HOURS: 40 hours per week
