Not all supermarket liquor departments are the same and at New World Pioneer, we want ours to stand out.

We’re a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North, with a team who take pride in what they do. We’re looking for a Liquor Assistant who knows their way around a great craft beer or a good bottle of wine, enjoys discovering something new and loves sharing that enthusiasm with others.

If you enjoy talking hops and brewing styles, exploring wine varieties and regions, or helping someone find their next favourite drop, we want to hear from you.

 

About the Role

This is your chance to bring your product knowledge and personality to a liquor department that wants to offer customers more than just a shelf of bottles. We want to build a great range, create an engaging shopping experience and make our department a destination for customers who appreciate quality and variety.

 

You’ll be involved in

 

• Helping customers discover new craft beers, wines and other interesting products through friendly, knowledgeable recommendations

   

   

• Building your knowledge of breweries, wineries, varieties, regions and emerging trends

   

   

• Maintaining an attractive, well-stocked and carefully presented department

   

   

• Replenishing stock, rotating products and creating eye-catching displays

   

   

• Keeping up with new products and sharing your discoveries with customers and the team

   

   

• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the department

 

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings genuine enthusiasm and curiosity to the role.

 

• You have a real interest in craft beer and wine and enjoy learning about different styles, producers and regions

   

   

• You’re confident sharing recommendations and helping customers find something they’ll love

   

   

• You enjoy discovering new products and keeping up with what’s happening in the industry

   

   

• You take pride in presentation, organisation and attention to detail

   

   

• You’re reliable, proactive and enjoy being part of a team

   

   

• Previous liquor retail, hospitality or specialty retail experience is an advantage

   

   

You don’t need to know everything, but you do need to be curious, enthusiastic and keen to keep learning.

 

 

Hours of Work

Tuesday to Saturday 12:00pm – 8:30pm
