We at Gilmours Mt Roskill believe in providing superior service, quality and are proud of our Standards. We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our buying team. The role is responsible for overseeing the total liquor category – Beer, wines, spirits & RTD’s. For both our service-delivery business and Cash N Carry. As well as doing the procurement for liquor, you will also manage a small team of replenishment staff and form part of the store duty manager team.
We are currently looking for an experienced, confident, self-motivated person with a high attention for detail to join the team based in Mt Roskill.
As our Liquor Business Manager for Gilmours Mt Roskill you will be responsible for:
- Managing the Buying Programme for our Liquor via KPI, set the goal and vision to deliver on commercial outcomes that drive key strategic department growth.
- Build Relationship with Internal and External Stakeholder working on hot opportunities and long-term strategy. Negotiate vendor deals and meet department KPI’s around sales and margin
- Developing Private Label opportunities and sales. Monitoring/Forecast National account and Seasonal Stocks.
- Ensure detail from changeover promotion, layout & instore merchandising to SLOB and Obsolete stock, to Commodities planning and investments buy up. Not forgetting NPD’s – looking for fresh opportunities as per market trends
- Maintain stock levels at optimum level, negotiate, partner, and communicate with suppliers to get the best deals for our customers.
- Review and manage necessary administrative functions of the role. Ensure completed paperwork is up to date and compliant.
- Assist to drive required stock for all divisions of Gilmours to ensure they exceed store standards and customer expectations
- Using SAP to order all stock through approved vendors. All orders placed on time.
- Work closely with the sales team by giving product knowledge and quotes to grow our On-Premises business.
- Ensure department service level and DIFOT >98%
- Ensure vendor credits and parked invoices are cleared each week.
- Hold suppliers accountable for damaged stock.
- Manage the replenishment team of 3.

What are we looking for?
- Buying experience is necessary. FMCG market awareness and Industry knowledge are key.
- Confident with retail/FMCG systems, CRM tools e.g., Salesforce and SAP
- Strong communication (verbal and written), relationship management, negotiation and networking skills who is customer focused.
- Strongly Analytical skills and strategy development
- Ambitious, motivating, results orientated manager willing to lead the team through the next level of growth
- A manager who leads from the front by demonstrating and living the Gilmours values. With the ability to listen, advise and come up with commercially, customer driven, solutions
- Ability to communicate and influence across internal/ external stakeholders
- A love of food and experience in the foodservice industry is highly desired
- Proven management of staff. Strong Relationship Builder, Team Player, and Problem Solver
- Are you proud of your work, meticulous with detail and are a whizz when it comes to efficiencies within buying and managing a small team.
- Be flexible to work a rotating weekend day as part of the duty manager roster.
- Have a valid work permit or NZ Citizen.
