🛒 Online Shopper & Home Delivery Driver

New World Merrilands –Part time (Tuesday to Saturday 7:30am-2pm 30hrs p/week)

New World Merrilands is looking for a motivated, reliable and customer-focused individual to join our Online Shopping team in a full-time role that combines order picking and home delivery.

You’ll be part of a friendly, high-performing team that takes pride in delivering an exceptional shopping experience for our online customers. This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same—perfect for someone who enjoys being active, organised, and interacting with people.

🧾 The Role

As an Online Shopper & Home Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for accurately picking and preparing customer orders, as well as safely delivering them to customers’ homes.

🛍️ Picking & Online Order Fulfilment

• Accurately pick, pack, process and (where required) invoice online customer orders
• Follow best practice guidelines for:
  • Best before/use-by dates
  • Product weights
  • Restricted items
  • Suitable substitutions
• Communicate with customers regarding out-of-stocks and substitutions
• Ensure orders are labelled, checked and stored correctly in the staging area
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the online area and equipment
• Meet performance targets (pick rate, availability, and accuracy)
• Assist the Online Manager in managing workflow and prioritising orders

🚚 Home Delivery

• Deliver customer orders safely and on time to their home or nominated address
• Provide outstanding customer service as a key brand ambassador
• Handle orders carefully, particularly chilled, frozen and fragile goods
• Ensure all restricted items are delivered following ID verification requirements
• Maintain delivery vehicles in a clean and tidy condition
• Resolve customer queries or concerns professionally

🤝 Team Support

• Help minimise customer complaints through proactive service
• Assist in other departments (Dry Goods, Fresh, Checkout) when required

✅ What We’re Looking For

• Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence (essential)
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy items regularly
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, punctual and flexible with hours (includes weekends)
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

• Experience in food retail or handling perishable goods
• Previous driving or delivery experience
