Operations Manager


At PAK'nSAVE Tamatea, we're continuing to evolve the way we manage stock, availability, and customer experience. As we take our next steps in our category management journey, we're looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our leadership team and work closely alongside our Buying and Inventory teams.

This is a unique leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys combining operational excellence with strong stock management disciplines. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the right products are available for our customers at the right time, every day, while helping drive continuous improvement across stock flow, replenishment, and store execution.

 

About the Role

Working within our Dry Goods leadership structure, you'll partner closely with Buying, Inventory, and Operations teams to ensure seamless stock movement from supplier through to shelf. You'll be responsible for maintaining high levels of availability, supporting replenishment processes, and helping implement future-focused initiatives that improve efficiency and customer outcomes. 

This is a full time position working 40 hours a week including a weekend day each week. 

The standard roster for this position is Sunday through Thursday, but because we're a 24/7 business, and this is a leadership position, there will be occasional opportunities to work alternative shifts or days. We're committed to providing as much notice as possible when changes are needed.  We appreciate and reciprocate flexibility in roster changes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting day-to-day store operations across Grocery, Chilled, Frozen and Liquor.
  • Working closely with Buyers and Inventory to ensure strong stock availability and presentation standards.
  • Driving operational execution of category plans, promotions, seasonal events, and major store initiatives.
  • Supporting and influencing replenishment strategies to maximise on-shelf availability.
  • Monitoring stock flow and identifying opportunities to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Partnering with teams to deliver best-practice inventory management and stock accurac
  • Assisting with the ongoing implementation and optimisation of automated replenishment and Auto Release processes.
  • Using data and reporting to identify trends, solve problems, and improve business performance.
  • Coaching and developing team members while fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Ensuring the store is customer-ready at all times and delivering an exceptional shopping experience.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who:

  • Has proven leadership experience within a retail or supermarket environment. 
  • Has a strong understanding of stock management, replenishment, inventory control, and stock flow.
  • Is confident using SAP and understands how system settings influence stock availability and operational performance.
  • Has experience working with automated ordering systems and replenishment tools.
  • Understands the importance of accurate inventory and the impact it has on customer experience.
  • Enjoys analysing information and using data to drive decisions.
  • Builds strong relationships and works collaboratively across multiple teams.
  • Can balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
  • Is passionate about developing people and creating a positive team environment.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced retail environment where no two days are the same.
