Part-time Barista & Cafe Assistant

New World Pioneer is a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. With a team who pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards across every area of our store.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Barista & Café Assistant to join our busy Café team. This role would suit someone who is confident working independently, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering great coffee and excellent customer service.

 

About the Role

This is a permanent part-time position working across our Café, Gelato and Lotto areas.

 

Your Saturday shift will be primarily focused on the Café, where you'll be responsible for preparing quality coffee, serving customers, and helping keep the Café running smoothly during one of our busiest trading periods.

On Sundays, you'll work across our Gelato and Lotto areas. Full training will be provided in these areas, giving you the opportunity to build your skills and become a versatile member of our team.

 

Hours of Work

This is a permanent part-time position working

Saturday: 8:30am – 2:30pm

Sunday: 4:00pm – 7:30pm

 

About You

The successful applicant will have

 

• Ideally Minimum two years' barista experience
• Confidence preparing coffee in a busy café environment
• A genuine passion for customer service
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
• A positive, friendly and professional attitude
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliability and a strong work ethic
• Willingness to learn new skills and work across different areas of the department
