Produce Assistant Manager and Buyer

As a Produce Assistant Manager & Buyer you will have an eye for quality to provide our customers with fresh quality produce, replenishing stock through out the day, ensuring that our high standards are maintained for continued great first impressions for our customers as they enter our store. Assisting and Reporting to Produce Manager, helping to ensure department targets and operational standards are met or exceeded.

Have the experience to help train and help direct other team members to consistently merchandise to high standards.

About this role:

  • Monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year.
  • Help to ensure the shop is full fresh and appealing throughout the hours of trade, all food safety practices are adhered to and that stock levels are controlled appropriately.
  • Assist in ensuring sales and GP targets for the department are met or exceeded and that wage costs are controlled appropriately.
  • Ensures Foodstuffs New World promotional and pricing programmes are adopted so that the store presents a competitive and brand consistent offer to the market at all times.
  • Control ordering for department through effective use of the in-store purchasing systems. Ensure range matches the format and customer service requirements whilst optimising stock holding levels and stock turn.
  • Liaise with suppliers as appropriate and ensure that all stock is sourced through approved suppliers, all orders placed on time and all product checked on arrival for quality.
  • Manage assigned activities, promotions and initiatives within plan, budget and resource deployment delegations.
  • Meet annual, monthly and weekly targets and review with the Department Manager the sales, gross profit, contribution to profit and cost targets in line with the store targets, proactively taking action to remedy adverse trends.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate these key abilities:

  • Physically fit and able to fulfil the requirements of the role.
  • SAP experience
  • FMCG, fresh food or food retail experience
  • Reliable and a great team player
  • Maintain high standards and eye for detail
  • Excellent customer service
  • A dedication to Food Safety and Health and Safety
  • Great work ethic

Salary Range 69,732 - 77,480 per annum

This is a full-time permanent position minimum guaranteed 45 hours of work
