Produce 2IC

New World Pioneer is a large, locally owned supermarket in Palmerston North, with a team that are committed to delivering fresh, high-quality products and excellent customer service.

We’re looking for an experienced Produce 2IC to support the day-to-day running of our Produce department. This is a great opportunity for someone ready to step up, take ownership, and play a key role in a fast-paced, high-performing team.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership position supporting the Produce Manager in the day-to-day running of the department. You’ll help ensure the department is consistently full, fresh, and visually appealing, while driving sales, managing stock, and maintaining high standards.

You’ll be hands-on, working alongside the team to keep the department full, fresh, and well presented, building displays, managing suppliers, and stepping up to run the department when required. This role suits someone who takes ownership, works with urgency, and takes pride in delivering a great customer experience.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in produce, fresh food, or supermarket retail
• Supervisory or leadership experience (preferred)
• Strong understanding of stock control, merchandising, and presentation
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual work and early starts
• Ability to work at pace in a high-volume environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Reliable, motivated, and leads by example

Hours of work

• Sunday: 5:00am – 1:30pm
• Monday: 5:00am – 1:30pm
• Tuesday: 9:30am – 6:00pm
• Wednesday: 9:30am – 6:00pm
• Thursday: 9:30am – 6:00pm
