Join Our Team as Produce 3IC at New World Thorndon!

Our Produce Department is currently seeking a 3rd-in-charge (3IC) to help lead our team of produce specialists. As the Produce 3IC, your main responsibility will be to assist the department manager and 2IC in planning and coordinating the department's day-to-day operations. You will be expected to closely monitor the floor and support your team as needed to ensure our customers receive the best shopping experience. Your leadership will be essential to the success of the team and our department as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Produce Manager and 2IC in the day-to-day operation of a busy Produce Department, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times.
• Lead by example in providing excellent customer service and supporting team members to achieve departmental goals.
• Ensure produce displays are well-stocked, fresh, visually appealing, and merchandised to company standards.
• Assist with stock management, including ordering, stock rotation, waste control, and inventory accuracy.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment, adhering to all food safety and health and safety requirements.

What we are looking for

• Previous experience in Produce, fresh food retail, or a supervisory role is preferred, but not essential.
• A positive attitude and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers and team members.
• The ability to lead by example, motivate others, and support the development of the team.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high merchandising and quality standards.
• A reliable, flexible, and hands-on approach to work.
• Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving stock.
• A commitment to food safety, health and safety, and company compliance standards.
• The confidence to step up and take responsibility for the department when required.

Shifts & Availability:

This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week: Monday 6:00am - 2:00pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 12.00pm - 8:00pm.
