Produce Manager

About the role

Our Produce Manager is responsible for leading one of the store's most important fresh food departments, ensuring our customers enjoy the highest quality fruit and vegetables, well presented displays, and exceptional service every day.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll inspire and develop your team, drive department performance, maintain outstanding quality standards, and continually look for opportunities to improve the customer experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, motivating and developing the Produce team to achieve operational excellence.
• Maintaining exceptional standards of freshness, quality, merchandising and product availability throughout the department.
• Ensuring all produce is presented to the highest standard, creating an outstanding shopping experience for our customers.
• Driving department performance through sales, productivity and quality outcomes.
• Training, coaching and supporting team members to achieve their full potential.
• Managing rostering, recruitment, performance and succession planning.
• Working closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure the timely flow of high-quality stock.
• Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, health and safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitoring inventory, ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste while maximising freshness.
• Contributing ideas and initiatives to continually improve department performance and customer satisfaction.

About you

We're looking for an experienced people leader who has a genuine passion for fresh produce and delivering exceptional customer experiences. You'll have a keen eye for quality, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to lead by example in a busy retail environment.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous leadership experience within a supermarket, fresh foods, produce or FMCG environment.
• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
• A strong commitment to quality, freshness and presentation.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing sales, stock, waste and productivity.
• The ability to prioritise, multitask and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• A customer-first mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
• The physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the role.
