Produce Manager

New World Wairoa is on the lookout for an energetic, motivated Produce Manager who’s ready to lead one of the most important departments in our supermarket. If you’re passionate about fresh food, people leadership, and delivering an exceptional customer experience, we’d love to hear from you.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who wants to take the next step in their Foodstuffs career — or someone ready for a lifestyle change in a stunning regional community.

Why Wairoa?

Wairoa offers a relaxed, affordable lifestyle with a strong and welcoming community. You’ll be close to beaches, rivers, and the great outdoors while still having access to modern amenities. It’s the perfect place to enjoy work–life balance without sacrificing career progression.

About the Role

As our Produce Manager, you will:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a dedicated produce team
  • Ensure the highest standards of freshness, presentation, and availability
  • Manage stock levels, wastage, department performance, and merchandising
  • Drive sales, innovation, and connection with our local community
  • Create a positive, supportive culture where your team can excel
You’ll take ownership of your department while being supported by an experienced owner–operator who is committed to your development and long-term success.

What We Offer

We know the right person may be moving from outside the region, so we offer:
  • Competitive remuneration based on experience
  • Leadership & professional development, including Foodstuffs training pathways
  • Investment in your long-term Foodstuffs career — grow into future operations or store leadership roles
  • Supportive ownership, a collaborative team culture, and the autonomy to make your mark
  • The chance to build a fantastic lifestyle in a friendly, affordable community

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Produce experience within supermarket retail (leadership experience preferred, but we can develop the right person)
  • A passion for fresh food and exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • A hands-on leadership style that inspires others
  • A drive to improve, innovate, and constantly raise standards
If you’re an aspiring department manager ready to step up — or an experienced leader looking for ownership support and a great lifestyle — we want to talk.
