Qualified Butcher

PAKnSAVE Upper Hutt is proudly locally owned and operated, serving our Upper Hutt and wider Hutt Valley community with excellent value, quality products, and friendly service. We are currently looking for a Qualified Butcher to join our busy and well‑established Meat Department.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who is enthusiastic about butchery, takes pride in their work, and enjoys being part of a strong local team.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks required of the Butcher include (but are not limited to):

• Correctly and efficiently breaking bones, slicing and cutting all meat, while reducing wastage.
• Assisting with the traying up of meat as required
• Ensuring meat cases and freezers are appropriately stocked and that merchandising standards are always maintained.
• Enhancing the department’s image through agreed standards of display and presentation
• Assisting with department cleaning routines and stocktaking requirements
• Effectively resolving customer enquiries and complaints, referring to management where required

What we are looking for

• Trade qualified butcher or proven industry experience
• Proven knife skills and sound product knowledge
• Strong focus on quality, consistency, and minimising waste
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Commitment to food safety, health & safety, and store standards
• Reliable, punctual, and a team‑focused attitude
• A customer‑first mindset that reflects our local community values.
