Service deli Assistant

New World Pioneer is a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. We employ a team of 200+ who pride themselves on delivering exceptional customer service.

We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a service deli assistant.

This is a part time position, with a set Sunday shift (10:00am – 7:00pm) and plenty of opportunity to pick up extra shifts. It’s a great role for university students or anyone looking to gain valuable work experience while maintaining other commitments.

About the role:

As a Service Deli Assistant, you will:

• Provide friendly, efficient service to our customers

   

   

• Prepare, present, and maintain deli products to the highest standards

   

   

• Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are always met

   

   

• Safely handle stock, including lifting items of up to 10kg

   

   

• Work as part of a supportive team in a fast-paced environment

   

   

What we’re looking for:

• A positive, reliable, and motivated attitude

   

   

• Strong customer service and communication skills

   

   

• Ability to work well in a team environment

   

   

• Flexibility to pick up additional shifts when required

   

   

• Previous deli, hospitality, or food-handling experience is an advantage, but not essential – full training provided
