Are you passionate about great food and great teams? New World Mt Albert is looking for a Service Deli Manager to lead our deli department, build our range, and deliver the kind of service our customers keep coming back for.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves food, backs their decisions with data, and holds the line on food safety without compromise.

About the role

Reporting to the Fresh Foods Manager, you'll take full ownership of the day-to-day running of the service deli, from range and presentation through to sales, margin, staffing and compliance. You'll have the freedom to shape the department and the accountability to make it perform.

What you'll be doing

• Leading and developing the deli team to hit sales, wage and gross profit targets
• Sourcing and ordering stock, managing levels to maximise sales and minimise waste
• Following an existing production schedule with robust processes built around the daily operation
• Bringing new ideas to the counter; new products, ranges and ways to grow the department
• Using sales and financial data to spot trends, act early and drive performance
• Owning food safety and health & safety in the department, keeping standards high every day
• Recruiting, rostering, training and reviewing your team to keep it strong
• Delivering outstanding customer service and resolving issues the right way

What we're looking for

• A genuine leader who can direct, motivate and grow a team
• Keen interest in food and food innovation; you like trying new things and improving the offer
• Comfortable working with numbers and using data to make decisions
• A stickler for a consistent daily offer
• A food safety and health & safety champion
• At least 2 years' department management experience in a supermarket or equivalent (industry new commers welcome)
• Computer literate and confident learning our systems (SAP experience an advantage)

Handy to have: NZQA Level 3, Unit Standard 497, solid English and maths, and a clean driver's licence.
