Service Delicatessen Assistant Manager (2IC) - New World Point Chevalier

To continue delivering great food and outstanding service, we’re looking for a Service Delicatessen Assistant Manager (2IC) to join our busy team. You must have a current right to work in New Zealand.
Monday 10am-6pm
Tuesday 10am-6pm
Wednesday 5am-1pm
Thursday 10am-6pm
Sunday 5am-3:30pm
The Role
We’re looking for a motivated, experienced team player with a positive attitude who thrives in a fast-paced fresh food environment and enjoys leading others.
As a Service Delicatessen Assistant Manager (2IC), you’ll support the Department Manager in the day-to-day running of the department while helping to lead and develop the team.
In this role, you’ll:
- Support the Department Manager in achieving sales, GP, and operational targets.
- Assist with ordering, stock control, and ensuring the department maintains optimal stock levels and freshness.
- Help manage department costs, stock handling, and processes to support profitability.
- Ensure the deli is always full, fresh, clean, and appealing for customers.
- Prepare and present a wide range of deli products to a high standard.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and confidently handle enquiries or complaints.
- Lead by example and support training, coaching, and development of team members.
- Assist with rostering and ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained.
- Ensure all food safety, health & safety, and compliance requirements are met.
- Step up and run the department in the Manager’s absence when required.

- Previous deli, fresh food, or supermarket experience (essential).
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience (preferred).
- A strong team player who can motivate and support others.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role.
- Commitment to food safety, compliance, and high standards.
