We are currently looking for reliable, hardworking and motivated team members to join us at New World Ngāruawāhia in the following positions:

 

• Shop Assistant – Full Time
• Checkout Supervisor – Part Time

We are looking for people who are positive, reliable, enjoy working in a busy supermarket environment and take pride in providing excellent service to our customers.

 

 

Shop Assistant – Full Time

This is a hands-on role supporting different areas of the store, with a strong focus on stock replenishment, merchandising, stock movement and customer service.

 

 

Key responsibilities

• Replenishing stock throughout the store
• Filling shelves accurately and efficiently
• Rotating stock and checking product dates
• Receiving, organising and moving stock safely
• Assisting with loading and unloading deliveries
• Operating a forklift safely when required
• Maintaining high merchandising and presentation standards
• Helping with promotional displays and ticketing
• Keeping shelves, storage areas and work areas clean and tidy
• Providing friendly and helpful customer service
• Supporting different departments when required
• Working closely with the wider team to ensure daily store operations run smoothly

Essential requirements

For this position, you must have:

 

 

• A current New Zealand Driver Licence
• A current Forklift Licence
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
• Good physical fitness and the ability to regularly lift and move stock
• A reliable and punctual approach to work
• The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Previous supermarket, grocery, warehouse, stock replenishment or retail experience would be an advantage.

 

 

Checkout Supervisor – Part Time

We are also looking for a friendly, confident and reliable Part-Time Checkout Supervisor to help support the day-to-day running of our Checkout department.

 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, supporting team members and taking responsibility during busy trading periods.

 

Key responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting checkout team members during shifts
• Providing excellent customer service
• Assisting with customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally
• Supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the checkout area
• Assisting with cash handling, till procedures and checkout processes
• Helping coordinate breaks and workflow during busy periods
• Supporting and training team members when required
• Ensuring checkout areas are clean, tidy and well presented
• Following store procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant policies
• Working closely with Checkout Management and the wider store team

Previous checkout, supermarket, retail or supervisory experience is preferred for this position.
