We have an exciting opportunity for someone to lead our Stock Control team of 3 staff. The role is responsible for all aspects of the Stock Control function including cycle and ad hoc counts, investigating stock variances, interacting with Inwards Goods, Accounts Payable and all other departments across the business. The Supervisor is seen as the subject matter expert on the Stock Control function and must be technically competent in Stock Control processes but also be able to lead and mentor the Stock Control team.
Gilmours Mt Roskill operates under SAP Warehouse Management System so a solid understanding of stock location methodology would be very desired if not an essential requirement of the successful candidate.
The role reports to the Commercial Manager but is expected to operate autonomously on a day-to-day basis and the role carries with it a high level of decision authority in regard to authorizing adjustments.
We are currently looking for an experienced, confident, self-motivated person with high attention for detail to join the team based in Mt Roskill.
As our Stock Control Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the weekly cycle of Stock Control Activity.
- Communicate results of bulk stock counts with relevant parties and agree a course of action regarding stock adjustments to be processed.
- Personally, completing high value and higher risk article counts to ensure compliance.
- Interacting with Department Managers around stock count results that might need their attention
- Interact with Pick Pack Operations around variances that may be attributed to errors in picking orders for customers.
- At times reviewing Good Receipt process accuracy and how this might impact stock on hand accuracy.
- Reporting on material variances to Senior Leaders as appropriate
- Reviewing annual progress on cycle count statistics and ensuring that related KPIs are achieved.

What are we looking for?
- Previous experience in a Senior Stock Control role – preference will be given to candidates that have managed a team of Stock Controllers
- Strong communication (verbal and written), relationship management, negotiation and networking skills.
- Strongly Analytical skills
- A manager who leads from the front by demonstrating and living the Gilmours values. With the ability to listen and agree direction
- Ability to communicate and influence across all stakeholders
- Have a valid work permit or NZ Citizen.
This role would suit someone who has previously worked in Stock Control either within an FMCG or a Logistics environment. As mentioned, experience in using the EWM extension of SAP is highly desirable.
