HR & Compliance Manager

Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Human Resources, Food Safety, Health & Safety, and workplace compliance across the supermarket. The role ensures the business maintains a safe, compliant, and positive working environment while meeting all legal, regulatory, and company requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, attendance, leave, and disciplinary processes.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, employee records, and employment documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, workplace policies, and company standards.
  • Oversee food safety and hygiene compliance, ensuring appropriate procedures, training, documentation, audits, and corrective actions are maintained.
  • Manage Health & Safety requirements, including workplace risk assessments, incident and accident reporting, hazard management, emergency procedures, and staff safety training.
  • Conduct regular compliance inspections and internal audits across the supermarket.
  • Identify risks and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate training in HR policies, food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, registers, training records, incident reports, and audit documentation.
  • Liaise with management, employees, contractors, suppliers, regulators, and external auditors where required.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, employee concerns, and compliance issues and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are completed.
  • Promote a strong culture of employee wellbeing, food safety, workplace safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Keep management informed of significant HR, food safety, health and safety, and compliance risks.
